We used Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar to learn about the life stages of a butterfly.
Last week was a busy week in Prasot village at The Little Library. The children were introduced to many new activities including learning to sing the "head shoulders, knees, and toes" song.

Then we created diagrams and drawings.

This time of year is when the annual fish harvest takes place in Prasot village. Families pump out the water from their ponds and remove the fish by hand!

Families help each other with the workload and each family is able to make some much needed income by selling excess fish.

Women clean the fish to prepare for selling.
PictureChildren work alongside their parents.
One pond costs about $100 to dig and in a few years can produce enough fish to earn $250- $400 per yearly harvest. For many families, this is the only source of income they will have all year.

We are looking forward to another week at The Little Library starting tomorrow!
We will be joined by new volunteers and visitors, Tomoko, Greg, and Catharine from Seattle!
